1970, 1982 and 1935

Presented by Valerie Singleton OBE, this episode features a story from the road from 1970: Graham Barber, organist of St Bartholomew’s church in Armley, near Leeds. Graham was remembering the life – and the death – of his inspirational teacher and mentor, the organist Brian Runnett. Then from 1982, we meet Dawn Franklin – recounting how she managed to collect a parking ticket less than an hour after passing her driving test. Then featuring a story from 1935, Eddie Loofe talks to James Luckhurst about his father’s driving lessons back in 1935.

We would love to hear from you if you have an idea to contribute to the Voices from the Road podcast! We have assembled a small editorial panel whose members will consider the merits of your idea. Once it gets the thumbs-up, we can agree the format of your contribution, and how the recording will take place. In its simplest form, it can be done via an online meeting, but if it deserves a little extra attention, then a recording on location or with a group of others is also possible. Do get in touch with your idea!
